As Managing Partner of Alfred Street Partners, LLC (ASP), John Brady is an active investor in small-to-mid sized marketing communications companies.

Prior to September 2003, Brady co-founded The Direct Impact Company, the nation’s leading provider of grassroots lobbying and public education campaigns, serving major corporations, trade associations, government agencies, and ad-hoc issue coalitions.  In the 13 years from founding until its sale to Young & Rubicam, and completion of earnout in December 2001, Direct Impact had compound annual revenue growth of 43 percent, compounded annual EBIT growth of 81 percent, and exceeded all post-sale earnout targets.  Direct Impact was listed as number 241 on the 1995 Inc. 500 list.

In July 1997, Brady and his Direct Impact partners acquired a majority interest in Democracy Data & Communications (DDC), which provides technology, communications, and support services to the public affairs departments of corporations, trade associations, and interest groups.  Brady served as Chairman and CEO from July 1997 through September 1999, and remains a shareholder and member of DDC’s operating committee.  DDC, which reached number 72 on the 2002 Inc. 500 list, now counts as clients nine of the Fortune 10 and two-thirds of the Fortune 50.  Revenues have increased from $264,000 in 1997 to over $14 million in 2005.

Brady also is an active stockholder in Fishbowl, the leading provider of online loyalty marketing and customer acquisition programs for chain restaurants.  Fishbowl serves more than 70 clients, including five of the top seven casual dining chains, driving revenue from $180,000 in 2001, the year of its founding, to over $3 million in 2004.

Brady received an A.B., cum laude in government, from Harvard College in 1978.  He currently resides in Alexandria, Virginia, with his wife and three children.
