Phil Gross is a Managing Director of the DC Metro office of Expense Reduction Analysts, Inc., an international consultancy focused on expense management and cost reduction. Since 1992, ERA has served hundreds of clients in over twenty countries ranging in size from mid-market companies up to Fortune 1000 leaders.

Mr. Gross combines a background in accounting with a wide range of business, operations, financial, and management skills. He has held leadership positions in several high growth companies, including MCI and AOL during their formative years. He has experienced all stages of a company’s growth from start-up through exit (either via an M&A transaction or an IPO) and has been involved in a wide array of financing transactions (including venture capital, private equity, bank debt and the public markets). In addition, he has served on numerous public and private boards of directors and has advised entrepreneurs as they grow their companies to success. He served as the entrepreneur-in-residence at the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship and as an Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at the R.H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. Mr. Gross was an E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year award finalist as a result of his experience as a serial entrepreneur and for his efforts in sharing his experiences with others through his teaching and mentoring activities.

Mr. Gross graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Syracuse University in 1973 and a Masters in Public Administration from the Maxwell School at Syracuse in 1974. In 1978 he received his Certified Public Accountant designation from the Maryland Board of Public Accountancy and in 1981 received the Certified Internal Auditor designation from the Institute of Internal Auditors. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
